in 1964 plans had been made to demolish the vicarage and build another house. Fr Fletcher approved the plan and agreed the proposed site for the new vicarage, but until the new building was ready 15 Vicarage Close was used as a temporary vicarage. He was an expert on chimneys; his guide Chimney Pots and Stacks ran to rwo editions.
|1972-1978||Raymond Crouch (Priest-in-Charge)
lived in the new Vicarage. He persuaded members of the congregation to call each other by their Christian names and not the more formal Mr or Mrs. He removed the varnish from the reredos and with the help of two parishioners restored the original colours.
|1978-1996||David Nicholls (Priest-in-Charge, then Vicar from 23rd Jan 1986)formerly Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford. Renowned theologian, political scientist, and prolific writer, he was awarded a D.Litt. by the University of Oxford in 1991. Married to consultant paediatrician Dr Gillian Sleigh, a specialist in child development. He died suddenly on 13th June 1996. Gillian died on 31st October 2010.|
|1997-2006||Bernhard Schünemann (Priest-in-Charge) from St Martin-in-the-Fields, London. Born in Göttingen in Germany, studied music and theology in London and Oxford. He first worked as a ‘cello teacher, parliamentary research assistant and as a nurse in a South London. hospice. Married to the Estonian artist Elo Allik. Appointed Vicar of South Dulwich 2006.|
|2006-||Margreet Armitstead (Priest-in-Charge)Margreet was born near Amsterdam and studied at the Amsterdam Teacher Training College before taking a degree in English Language and Literature at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She lived with her husband Julian in Hong Kong for five years where children Gillian and Tom were born. On return to England Margreet taught in local primary schools and worked with brain-injured adults. From 2003 – 2006 she was curate of Littlemore and from 2006 she has been Priest-in-Charge.|
