Advent and Christmas in Littlemore:

Services and Events

29th November at 6pm in church: Advent Carol Service. We celebrate with other Littlemore churches the start of advent.

Thursday 3rd  Dec at 4pm: St Nicholas Festival, 4pm start at Littlemore Community Centre. This is great fun for all children (and adults)! There will be St Nicholas art and craft activities, St Nicholas songs and stories, and lots of delicious food! At about 4.45 we will light our lanterns (provided) and process through Littlemore to the church where St Nicholas might come round! Finish about 5.15/5.30pm at St Mary and St Nicholas church. Children will need to be accompanied by an adult. Bring a carrot or apple for St Nicholas’ white horse!   

Sunday 13th Dec at 5pm in church: Christingle Service Popular service for the whole family! Children (and adults if there are any left!) will be given a Christingle (an orange with a candle and sweeties) as a symbol of Jesus as the light of the world. Children will act the nativity, we will sing well- known songs and carols and we will raise funds for the Children’s Society, a charity aimed at helping children through difficult times. 

Monday 21st Dec at 7pm: Community Carol Service.
Our annual service in which we celebrate the life of Littlemore Community. People from the wider Littlemore Community will do the readings and make up an ad hoc band! Mulled wine and mince pies afterwards.

Saturday 19th 2pm in Templar Square Shopping Centre: Carol singing with the churches together and the Salvation Army Band.

Christmas Eve 24th (Thursday) at 5pm: Crib Service.
A Christmas service for the whole family. Christmas stories, songs and carols, performances and a small Christmas gifts for all the children.

11pm Come and sing your favourite carols!
11.30pm Midnight Mass.

25th 10am Christmas Day Family Service!

       1-4pm: Annual Christmas Day Lunch in John Henry Newman Primary School, Grange Road. This is the sixth Christmas Day Lunch, organised by many from the Littlemore Community. We all have tremendous fun! Delicious traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, Bingo, Raffle, carol singing and a present for everyone! Suggested donation £2.50 per adult, £1.50 per child. To book (ideally by 18th Dec) or to help, ring Caroline Gale on 01235 200011. Vegetarian option available, transport can be arranged, just let us know!

Venue: Littlemore Village Hall 4pm

Bible story, action songs, refreshments and lots of fun! Ideal for children aged 0-10 and their families.
