who's who at Littlemore Church

Priest-in-Charge - the Revd Margreet Armitstead (2006, curate from 2002)
Margreet was born and bred in a village near Amsterdam in the Netherlands
where she acquired teaching qualifications in English and Dutch at the Amsterdam
Teacher Training College, followed by an MA equivalent in English Language and
Literature at the Free University of Amsterdam. She came over to England when
she married Julian, an English and Drama teacher. They lived in Hong Kong for
five years where their children, Gillian and Tom, were born. In Hong Kong Margreet
taught English in Vietnamese Refugee camps, the Ramada Renaissance Hotel and with
the Adult education department of Hong Kong University. Back in England she taught
in local primary schools and led a playgroup in St Mary's Church, Aylesbury, while
looking after their young children. She did her ministerial training with the
St Albans and Oxford Ministry Course, during which she had a rewarding part-time
post working with brain-injured adults.

Curate - the Revd Dr Helen-Ann Hartley (2007)
Helen-Ann was ordained in 2005 and became curate of Littlemore in October 2007. In addition to her parish work she is tutor in New Testament at Ripon College Cuddesdon. She studied Theology at the University of St. Andrews, followed by two years in the United States: one year at Princeton Theological Seminary, and one year as a pastoral intern at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware. After that she came to Oxford to undertake further graduate study in Jewish Studies and the New Testament, completing her doctorate examining aspects of the portrayal of manual labour in Judaism and early Christianity with particular reference to the letters of Paul. She is currently writing a book entitled 'Faith and Work' for the Bible Reading Fellowship which is due to be published in 2010. She has been a regular contributor to BBC Radio Ulster's 'Thought for the Day' for the past three years, and has recently become a contributor to BBC Radio Oxford's Friday morning reflection slot. In addition she also acts as a regular consultant to BBC television in development of programme ideas in Religion and Ethics. Helen-Ann is married to Myles, who is an organist. She likes listening to all types of music, reading, water-colour painting and outdoor activities.

assistant priest - the Revd Dr John Muddiman (1990)  John Muddiman was born and brought up in Southampton. After studying classics and theology at Keble College, Oxford, he trained for the ministry and did New Testament research in Cambridge and then in Louvain. He was ordained as Chaplain of New College, moving to St Stephen's House to be Vice-Principal to Dr David Hope. After a spell at Nottingham University, he returned to Oxford as George Caird Fellow in New
Testament Studies at Mansfield College.
He has served on ARCIC (the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission)
and several other Church committees dealing with ecumenisim and ministerial education.
His current academic research, pursued during his recent sabbatical in Princeton
USA, is on Mark's Gospel and Mission, and pseudonymous writings in the early Christianity.
He is the author of two books and numerous articles and is co-editor with John
Barton of the Oxford Bible Commentary (2001). He has been attached to Littlemore
since 1990.

assistant priest - the Revd Dr Teresa Morgan (2002)  Teresa
Morgan was a pupil at Oxford High School before studying the viola at the Hochschule
für Musik, Cologne, and the Royal Academy of Music, London. She subsequently read
classics at Cambridge and theology at Oxford. After holding a research fellowship
at St John's College, Cambridge, she came back to Oxford to teach at University
College and then at Oriel College, where
she is now Tutorial Fellow in Ancient History. Her written work ranges from Literate
education in the Hellenistic and Roman worlds (1998) to poetry and hymns,
which are sometimes sung at Littlemore. Teresa was ordained deacon in 2002 and
priest in 2003. See Teresa's page for some

Organist
- Richard Vendome (1984)
Richard Vendome was a pupil at Southfield School, Oxford (now Oxford Community
School), and as a teenager was organist at St Francis' Church, Cowley. He went on to the Royal College of Music in London before returning to Oxford with a scholarship
to the Queen's College, continuing his organ studies with James Dalton and later with Susi Jeans. He was organist of St Giles' Church, Oxford, Exeter College
and Kidlington Parish Church before coming to Littlemore in 1984 at the invitation
of his friend the Vicar, the Revd David Nicholls. Richard has held British Technology
Group and Leverhulme Trust research fellowships in computing at Oxford University,
and in 1990 was awarded the British Computer Society medal for music software . He has taught techniques
of composition and music history at Oxford, and in 1984 founded the Oxford
Girls' Choir (now part of Oxford Youth Choirs) to give girls a similar opportunity
to that provided by the historic college choirs for boys. He has performed as
an organist both at home and abroad, most recently in Malta, Norway and the USA,
and is editor of Spanish Netherlands Keyboard Music (1983-); his special
interests include instrument making, the psychology of music, the Venetian female
choral tradition (Vivaldi website), and Hildegard of Bingen (Hildegard website).

Head
Server - Roy Phillips
Roy Phillips, our Crucifer and Head Server, has worshipped at Littlemore since
moving to Oxford in 1986. Born in Grenada in the West Indies, he was educated
at Grenada Boys' Secondary School before joining the Grenada Civil Service, where
he worked in the Legal Department and in Customs and Excise. Roy came to England
in 1967 to study at the LSE, and has a degree in Economics and Accounting. He
then worked as a finance officer in the Social Services department of the London
Borough of Southwark. He has always been a committed Christian and a member of
the Anglican church.

PCC Secretary - Mo Tweney (2004)
Mo Tweney was born and brought up in Gloucester. She was confirmed into the
Church of England at the age of 18 when she was a control operator in the Fire
Brigade. She married John and moved to London in 1960, working for the GPO as
a telephone operator; her husband was in the London Fire Brigade. Mo then worked
for the New South Wales Government in the Strand until their son Paul was born
in 1968. Jane was born in 1969 and the family moved to Freeland in 1972 when John
transferred to the Oxfordshire Fire Service. Jane went to Bartholomew School,
Eynsham and Paul to Magdalen College School, Oxford. Mo later worked for a finance
company and then as county co-ordinator for Oxfordshire Scouts. Her hobbies have
included helping with the St John Ambulance brigade, working as an ASA swimming
Official (including paraplegics) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and assisting with
scout activities and the Oxford Gang Show. She still helps with the Tea Dances
at Oxford Town Hall. She first came to Littlemore Church in 1999 to hear her daughter's
wedding banns, and found the people very friendly. Her two granddaughters Ella
Grace and Matilda Lily were subsequently baptised here. Mo Tweney was awarded an MBE for services to the community in the 2007 New Year honours.
