Please note that the doors of the church are normally locked
(due to past experience of vandalism), though during daylight hours the west doors
of the church are normally opened, allowing access to a porch, from which a good
view of the interior may be had, through a barred inner grille. A prayer
stool is provided in the porch.
Arrangements may be made to gain entry and visit the church
interior. Requests to visit should be made to the Vicar, preferably giving plenty
of notice. The church is situated in the heart
of the old village, on a junction with Henley Road.
There is a bus stop opposite and regular though infrequent
bus service is provided from Oxford. Alternatively, visitors from Oxford
may catch one of the more frequent buses to Rose Hill, just inside the Oxford
ring road, and walk the half mile or so, to the church, passing below the ring
road through a pedestrian underpass.
For those travelling by car, the church may best be approached
from three directions:
- From Henley and the south:
Travel north on the A4074 through Newnham
Courteney, and about 1 mile after entering the marked outskirts of the village,
the church will be found on the right, after passing Littlemore Mental Health
Centre and crossing a small railway bridge. - From the southeast and
A40 (London)
On reaching the 'Headington Roundabout' on the Oxford ring road,
turn left for Cowley. Follow the dual carriageway for some two or three
miles, past the BMW Mini works (stay on the flyover). Then take the left
hand lane, ignore the next turning, and then turn left at the (first) 'Littlemore
Roundabout'. You will find the church at a junction about half a mile into
the village.
- From the A34 on the west of Oxford (the A34 runs north-south)
Leave
the A34 at the 'Hinksey Hill Roundabout' and follow the Oxford ring road south
and east towards Cowley. Continue along the ring road over two roundabouts
(there is a Sainsbury's supermarket at the second), heading for Cowley, and you
will come to the third 'Littlemore Roundabout'. Turn right here, into the
Village, and you will find the church on the junction in half a mile or so.
