Weddings in St Mary and St Nicholas Church

 

 Thank you for considering our church for your wedding. It will be our pleasure to make your day as enjoyable and meaningful as possible.

Below are some frequently asked questions.

Do we have to live in the Littlemore if we want to get married in St Mary and St Nicholas Church?

You can get married in our church if at least one of you lives in Littlemore. However, you can also get married in our church if:

1. you were baptised or confirmed in our church.

2. you have lived in our parish for more than six months at any time.

3. your parents lived in our parish.

4. your parents or grandparents were married in our church.

What needs to happen legally before we can get married?

If you are legally entitled to get married in our church then we will call the banns for three weeks about 2 months before the wedding. If you don’t live in Littlemore then they will also need to be called in the parish that you live.

Can I get married in St Mary and St Nicholas Church if I am divorced?

As a general rule we marry people who have been divorced, but we would be very happy to discuss your particular situation.

Can we get married in church if we do not have a British passport?

As there are a number of different rules please get in touch with Rev Margreet to discuss your particular situation.

How long is the service?

The service normally takes about 40 minutes.

Can we use confetti?

Yes, you can use bio-degradable confetti, used preferably by the entrance gate.

 Do we have to book an organist?

No, the organist will be booked for you. However, do contact the organist by email to discuss the music you would like or see him after a Sunday morning service.

How much is a wedding at St Mary and St Nicholas Church?

Currently it is £520, which includes everything apart from the flowers. This fee may change a bit over the next year.

Do you offer Marriage Preparation?

Yes, we offer a full-day marriage preparation course, which runs twice each year. We strongly encourage you to come to this as the day covers a whole range of very relevant topics. Couples have always found it tremendously useful.
